potter's angel

My daughter bought a Potter's Angel about a month or so ago. It's tail started looking a little frayed a couple weeks ago, but didn't seem to be getting any worse. Today it has gotten worse, and the fish is pale looking. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? The only other inhabitants are a pair of oscellaris she's had since June. They look healthy, and I don't think they are picking on the angel. They stay at the surface, and the angel stays in the rockwork. Is there something in the diet I'm missing, like perhaps seaweed?

Duhh, they eat algae in the wild. Seems like I knew that. I stole the algae clip from my tang and put it in my daughter's tank, we'll see if it eats that.(note to self buy another algae clip) Any vitamins/additives I could add either to the food, or to the tank directly to help it heal, assuming it is just fin rot due to dietary inadequacies? It was active at feeding and breathing etc. appears to be normal. (I've been reading on the wetwebmedia, can ya tell?) WWM recommends agressive, or maybe it was very active, tank mates which the Occ.s are most definately not(yet). That seems like an odd suggestion for a fish that is already shy and likes to stay hidden in the rockwork. But back to the health issue... Any ideas???

Hey Danny,
My friend Dale had the exact same thing happen to his Tang last month, first the fins, then color, then finally it quit eating. Chris Sarris gave Dale some medicine for the Tang and also some stuff that smelled like candy for his appetite. After 5 days in the med tank he was almost back to normal. This is 4 weeks later and the Tang has almost finished regrowing the last of his fins.
I believe it was a bacteria of some type. You could give Chris a call and ask him what he gave Dale to treat his yellow Tang and Chris will fix you right up. Sorry I don't know the precise med, but Chris can tell you immediately.

Thanks Paul, I'll give chris a call, and see what kinda meds he's got. I gotta get by there and grab another veggie clip anyway.

is there any way to get ahold of chris? i have some questions about fin problems with a tang and want to know if its ok to dose the tank or if i have to quarantine seperatly. thanks
