Powder Blue Tang

Have a PBT and a two spot bristle tooth tang in QT for 2 weeks now. Neither has shown any signs of ich and are eating well. I just finished a five day treatment of Prazipro and they both are back to eating well. I have noticed that the PBT will charge and rub a rock near his gills every once in a while, I have seen him do it only a few times. There are no bumps, heavy respiration, or other signs of ich. Any steps to take besides keeping a close eye on him?

I'd do a 2nd round of PP, one dose doesn't the get the eggs. Then just see if it goes away or gets worse. I'd keep him in the QT a total of 6 weeks. Its a personal decision and there are lots of folks on both sides; but I'm on the side that threats all fish prophylacticly with Cupramine. PBTs are very ich prone (easier to spell than '' susceptible") and handle copper very well. Copper will get velvet as well.

My PBT fortunately does not get ick as quick as the hippo does. By the time the hippo has spots, the PBT is just scraping rocks but looks fine.
