I lost power for 7 hrs.
I have 2 battery operated airstones I used them. But what really helped was the electric plug in the back of my pickup basically turning my vehicle into a generator.
Man I love my Toyota
A deep cycle marine/rv battery and a decent power inverter can work wonders... Can rig it into your grid to run your circulation pumps themselves for quite a while. just keep a trickle charger connected to it so that when the power jumps back on it starts to charge again and overrides the whole deal.Think of it like a DIY self charging APC on steroids.
Got bak from tupelo a bit ago with my generator. Tanks are running now. Temps are low, 69 but fish and coral look ok. Hopefully my power will be restored soon. Saw mlgw trucks at walnut grove and gtwn pkwy. Gonna try and get things warmed up enough to make it thru another night if necessary. My neighbors probably won like the gen going all night. Sounds like a lawnmower
Funny story.... Ice Storm 1994 my neighbor was in the construction business. Lights were out for 17 days in Bartlett area. He brought home a generator on a trailer that was about 15 foot square and ran off diesel. He wired my house and his together and ran it 24/7. There was 31 complaints in 17 days to the police for noise. We had lights and heat!!!
They wouldn't have complained if you shared I bet! Dill weed neighbors :mad2:
To include my own funny story:
The straight-line winds that blew through Memphis a few years back took out power to a coworkers house. He hooked a small generator up to keep his essentials running. He came home one day to find the power off in his house, but could still hear the generator running in the back yard. After checking all his connections and power strips he went out side to check the generator and discovered thieves had taken it. In it's place he found his lawnmower, puttering away. :lolspin:
