Powerheads

I have a 65g tank without a sump and 4 maxijet 1200 powerheads. I want to replace these PH and I also want to cut the number in half. With summer coming and worried about the heat, I was wondering what power heads I could get to keep the current flow rate and only have 2 powerheads in the tank. Any ideas?

I was also thinking about building a closed loop system useing the design from Melev's Reef. Would a mag 7 give enough flow or would I need a bigger pump? Also would this create enough flow by itself to be able to remove all of the power heads in my tank.

Mags can add quite a bit of heat
Tunze would reduce electric use & heat
But might be overkill for a 65g
On my 60g I had a mag3 that went to a skimmer
An Iwaki that went to a small sump
and (2) MJ1200's

Can mag pumps be run external or is there a better pump option if I went with the closed loop system. By the way the little video is cool. I bet that pump costs a arm and half a leg though.

I have a 90 gallon and use two Seio 1100's. Because of my rockwork, I have 2 Rio 800's behind the rock. Otherwise, the Seio's work great. They are fairly economical as well.
