Hi,
I have a 125 fowlr, and recently noticed the fish twitching their heads and flashing. I quarantined all the fish for one month and treated prophylactically each animal with copper. After a week of introducing all the fish to the main tank, I begin noticing these symptoms and guessed that it might be flukes since after all this time, I never noticed any white spots and such. My suspicions were confirmed when I started treatment with prazipro and after 48 hrs, the fish were all acting normally again. However, I know it usually takes 2+ treatments to completely eradicate the flukes. When I began my second treatment, after 48 hrs the fish actually kept twitching and scratching more. I pulled them all for a freshwater dip, and did not notice any rice-like things fall off, unlike the first time I gave them a dip before the first treatment of prazi. My question is, would the fish continue to twitch and scratch out of irritation caused by the many sores left behind by dying flukes, even without the actual flukes attached to them? How concerned should I be as I prepare for a third, and possibly a fourth treatment.
Thanks for any input!
