Predator PDFS-1 Protein Skimmer?

Yes Stony, it is a downdraft. Kadletz, I just got this skimmer, it was a hand me down and was told it was rated for up to 300 gallons but as Isaid I have no info on it. So far, I've had a tough time "dialing it in" I guess you'd say or adjusting it. Seems as if I'm always fiddling with it to get the kind of foam I want. Do you seem to have the same problem, or once I get it adjusted properlly will it stay that way?

Thanks

Because downdrafts suck A LOT of air in, you should have a gate value on the air intake, that will help you dial it in much better. I run a flexible air hose off my ETSS' connected to a gate value, and it's really easy then. I know some run them wide open, but with a really powerful pump, you'll get a few intermittant large bubbles in there.

I've long been a downdraft fan they are very efficient and effective.

Mine actually has to gate valves, one running from the pump to the downdraft which I have wide open, and another atched to the air intake at the top of the skimmer which I have mostlly closed. Which one should I be adjusting, and do you run your skimmate wet or dry? I seem to have no problem getting wet, but dry is what I'm more after. I've read a lot about downdraft skimmers and was really excited to be getting one because of there efficiency, now just need to get it dialed in right! This is my first downdraft skimmer by the way.

Thanks again,

Josh
