Preferable crosshatch trigger size

I have the option of getting a small 4 to 5 inch male or a larger 6 to 9 inch male crosshatch. I see the larger one has more color but I have read that buying a smaller crosshatch is better. Is there any difference in personality or any other attributes that would differentiate the two from each other?

Personality is different between individuals, can't lump this one to an older or younger classification. Then again some juvi fish are very sweet and loving and then when they mature they are total holy hell terrors, it's all a crap shoot. At least with seeing the two different ones you know what the personality of the larger one is and it probably won't change much from what it is now. The smaller one's personality may or may not change from what it is now.

As for which size, I'd get the smaller one so I can watch it grow and go through the changes of coloration from juvi to adult.

Smaller is uncommonly available and is generally preferred.

+1 younger fish just seem to adapt better to aquarium life
