Spotted these guys in my front yard. It is a flock of about 15 that live in my area. If anybody has anymore bird shots they wanted to show off feel free to add them.

that is awesome that they live near you. I didn't know they were indigenous up that far north. very nice picture as well. could you post more of the flock? thanks

Wow... you have wild Red Lored Amazons around there? They must've been escapees, which is a huge problem a lot of the states are having with birds. They are native to Central America/Mexico, though... so I guess it's possible that they travelled that far north. The guy in your photo appears to be pretty young - not much red on the face and his iris isn't coloured up yet.

Great picture!

wow that is interesting. I have heard of them being in south florida area never in southern cal. sweet pic anyways.

I think they were escapes. I hear somebody had a bunch in their back yard and a storm let them all loose. They just kinda hung around. I think they are cool and love it when they come around. They can make a hell of a racket when they are here though. They love my Acacia (sp?) tree.

Thanks for the link about the parrots. Good read. From what that site says though they may have migrated here and the report that they were escapes could just be urban legend.

Here's a few more. There are only 5 in the second picture the rest were to the right. Next time they are around I will try to get the whole flock. I wish I had a bigger telephoto so I could get closer shots but a nice macro is my first priority.

It's interesting to see that the flock is comprised of more than just one species of Amazon. I see that there are also Lilac-Crowned Amazons there as well.

Thats wicked man, Im lucky to see a red robin or a blue jay once in a while. Just a bunch of boring sparrows all time where I live.

Beautiful birds, nice shots, and it's really cool they stuck around like that. We have a pretty good variety around my house since we are near a wetland and a nature preserve but I havn't been able to get any good pics.

The only decent bird shot I have is from the Toronto zoo:

and since we're sharing, here are a couple other flyers I've caught :) :

This might support the theory that they are escapes. The owner could have had an amazon collection.

Said I would post the whole flock when I saw them. This was a few days ago. There are a few posers.
