Pretty new to hobby. In the Wolfchase area

I am relatively new to saltwater. I've bred tangynikans for awhile but just got into saltwater. I have had a 29 gallon setup with live rock, carbon filtration, running an overflow with chaeto. I'm waiting for a protein skimmer to arrive. I'm running LEDs and a t8. All the corals I've had are doing great except a welso and a duncan. I dont know why, I've talked with a friend and we believe it could be because they came from the wild and have not adjusted well because my parameters are fine and every other piece is doing great. Any pointers would be great. The whole setup has been running about a year. I'm glad to have found this forum of local people. It will really help. Thank you.

I doubt that a Duncan or welso being wild caught is the problem. Most LPS are pretty hardy. I would look at other possibilities instead. There are a myriad of things that can affect coral besides water parameters.... Like too muc light, too light light, flow problems (high or low), nutrients, etc... Your water may be dirty if you have no skimmer. There's lots o things that could be affecting them.

I had problems with my Duncan and my welso in what is becoming my SPS tank. Basically my water was too clean for it. I have them in a LPS and soft coral dominated tank and they both have taken off. Basically LPS like water that is less than pristine.

The welso and Duncan were doing fine when my nitrates were high. Once I got those under control, most of my lps didn't like it.
