I have no idea where they are made. Apparently, they are not UL listed. Which could mean nothing or could mean something.
I have a Prime Modular 1/3 HP and am happy with it. It has worked flawlessly for the 6 months I have had it up and running. It isnt the quietest chiller though. The parts used look good, the fan is quality, the compressor is a Japanese Matsu****a which is a very good, reliable compressor although not very quiet. There are quieter chillers on the market.
I owned a Universal Marine 1/5th for 10 years before this one. UM chillers are proably the best you can get. The Prime build quality appears to be nearly as good if not as good as the UM. Nothing fancy, no bells and whistles or pretty housing. Pretty cool that you can put a UV and / or a heater right into the ports on the chiller although I dont use them. I can't criticize anything as I havent had any problems. Well see if it holds up anywhere near as long as my UM did. My UM was 10+ years old and still going strong. Just wasn't large enough to handle the tank upgrade.
