So currently I have a bare bottomed 39 gallon, hob biowheel penguin, qt setup with 3 new fish in it... they are all under 2 inches...
anyhow everything was great in my qt up until friday afternoon I started to notice my sail fin acting sort of out of the ordinary, kind of distressed, so I tested the water and my levels were all over the place, ph was dropping, my ph was very stable at 8.4 before this and it had dropped down to 7.8, ammonia was 0ppm, nitrites were 5.0ppm, and nitrates were 5.0 ppm
Btw, I never leave food in the tank, I only feed what they will take from me, I don't just dump it in! And if any gets spit out I net it for removal!
Needless to say I did a 40% water change'as recommended by my go to saltwater lady, this didn't even touch the nitrite levels, it lowered the levels of the nitrates and it didn't seem to help my ph either. Saturday I did another small water change as my levels jumped right back up over night

this water change helped, nitrites were 0ppm, nitrates were 0ppm, but ph dropped more, down to 7.6
So then on Sunday morning I woke up and started checking on my tanks and low and behold my damn puffer has ich spots on his fins and so does my sail fin
I'm running hypo salinity at 1.009, never noticed a spot before on any of them and they all eat like like piggies
Since my water change, my water has remained cloudy, my ph won't budge?! What can I do to not stress out so much while quarantining fish?! Haha this hobby is fun, but oooh man, I have never had ocd before and if I fail at fish this time I will just sick to my reef and crazy cool inverts lol
