problem with aqua c protein skimmer

i purchased a aqua c remora hang on skimmer, my problem is the collection can does not produce foam inside of it , instead the foam comes up through the small hole on the cap of the can making a mess

Here's what I would do. I've had a Remora po for 2 years.

First, wash the central collection cup tube really well with HOT water. It really makes a difference with these skimmers.

Second, if the foam is going up and out instead of over and down into the collection cup it must be really dry foam. Try lowering the height of the cup. Sounds like you need a little wetter foam. If the cup is at it's lowest, see step 1 again.
