For some reason as you can see below, 2 of my fungia corals are dying and the other 2 look great. It started about a month ago. I noticed one had some black around its mouth. Within a week the other one had black around it's mouth also. As time went on the black spread to the point you see in the pics. The corals themselves shriveled up and look like skeletons now. The black looks like some kind of fuzzy fir like stuff. Maybe a fungus?
My other two look perfect and always have. They were all bought within a couple weeks of each other from the same store. They have all been sitting next too each other in the tank just like in the pics. Is there any way to save them or will they probably die? I don't spot feed them right now and I've been just letting them sit hoping they would recover. Looks like they are just slowly getting worse. Before the black appeared I would spot feed them a mix of zooplankton, Rod's coral blend, and phytoplankton 2 to 3 times a week. I tend to feed my LPS fairly heavy and thus skim aggressively and stay on top of my water chemistry.
Tank parameters:
100 gallon tank w/sump
Salinity: 1.026
Temp: 77°F
Calcium: 450 ppm
Alkalinity: 9 dkh
Magnisium: 1350 ppm
Phosphates: 0
Nitrates: 0
Skim somewhat wet
Run GFO reactor
Run ROX 0.8 reactor
Dose Prodibio Biokit Reef every 15 days
Dose BRS 2 part via BRS dosing pumps and Apex controller
I tried to play with the settings on my camera to get better pics. That's why some are blue and some aren't.
