Hi,
I have a problem with my tank and have run out of ideas of what I can do.
The tank is just over 2 years old now and has always been pretty much OK, but for the last couple of months, I've been having some probs with some corals.
Firstly, I have a couple of leather toadstool type corals, various different sizes. They haven't opened fully for possibly 2 months now. At first, I thought they were just shedding their skins, but it has been a long time now. They develop a bit of 'designer stubble' through the day, but never come out fully. I have tried moving them round the tank, I've replaced all my lights (4 x T5 Giesman tubes), increased my salt slightly as someone told me it was too low. It was previously 1.023 and I gradually brought this up to around 1.025.
Fish all look healthy and other corals such as green 'eyelash' polyps, various other mushrooms and finger corals, (all soft) are all doing well. The mushrooms particularly are spreading like wild fire all over the tank.
I also recently added a starburst polyp, this never came out at all and I think it has now died. I know corals can take a week or so to settle and this is why I have left it, but this has now been in the tank for nearly 2 weeks, and I'm pretty sure it has died now so will remove.
Other people have checked my water params too and haven't found any thing wrong.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
