Problem with new 175w Iwasaki 15k bulb

Hi Guys,

I purchased this bulb on 9/14/06 and put it into service on 9/18/06. It is run in a lumenmax2 reflector and driven by an Icecap 175w electronic ballast. I have it about 12 inches over the water. It has been run for 7 hours a day since it was installed.

I noticed that the output looked to be less than when I first got it and turned the light off and looked at the bulb. The bulb glass is very cloudy/foggy. I did a PAR measurment a few days after I installed it and I did one last night and it is putting out less than half the PAR it did 2 weeks ago. I am not sure exactly when this fogging of the glass occured. There are no watermarks on the bulb at all.

Thanks
Ray Nist

I would say there is defintely something wrong with that bulb...mine are about 5 months old and look nthing like that.

Yeah, Jeremy has already responded.

Certainly pays to buy from a company with their customer service track record.

I definately agree with that. I have always had nothing but a great experience with PA. I was there to buy a 250W dual set up a couple of months ago. I was only going to spend about $400. Jeremy was ready to ring it up and started talking to me about what I had and what I eventually wanted in my aquarium. He then talked to me about the Iwaski's. I ended up buying two 175W Iwaski 15K, two 175W Ice Cap electronic ballasts, and two Reeflectors with the sockets. I ended up spending over $500. More than I originally planned, but VERY VERY VERY well worth it. I am extremely happy with the set up. Jeremy and staff are awesome. I will continue to buy as much as possible from PA as opposed to the LFS in Greenwood, IN. By the way Jeremy, are you ready to sell one of those clams in that tank right in front of the counter? Just kidding, I heard you were attached to them like man's best friend.
