Problems to watch out for

Howdy all,

I'm setting up my 29 gallon reef tank and was curious about a few things. This is my very first aquarium and I've done quite a bit of reading. However, one thing that I'm not entirely sure about is, what are the most common problems to encounter, in terms of bad algae, parasites, etc? I'll be adding the live rock and sand on Saturday to begin the cycle, but I fear that I won't be able to tell bad growth from good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Tank information is a 29 gallon with CoraLife Lunar T5, MarineLand BioWheel, 150W EHEIM Heater. Any recommendations on an inexpensive skimmer?

There is a sticky at the top of the forum for beginners that has photos and determinations for hundreds of hitchhikers that people have found in their new tanks. That would be a great place to start. Once you know what you are looking at it will be easier to identify things...when you find one that doesn't match post a pic of it there for help.
