Problems with Sympodium

Hey all,
I have a Sympodium colony I picked up at MAX when it was in California. The colony did great for about 3 months, it actually grew very quickly and covered the rock it was on and never showed a sign of irritation. Recently it started closing up and not opening. I would estimate approximately 1/2 the colony has melted away.

I have not changed anything with the tank. The parameters are great, pH 8.1-8.2, kH 9-10, nitrate 0, phosphate 0 (Hannah Checker), Magnesium 1300.

I recently dipped the colony in CoralRX to see if anything was on the actual coral--when dipped, a few bristleworms came out. 70% of the colony still stays tightly closed with just a small section opening just the same as prior to the dip.

Is there something I am missing here or a special means of keeping Sympodium? Anyone have any pointers? I feel it is a real shame to lose a show colony of this size (6"+ rock). :mad2:
