profilux and kalk reactor

Hey Guys,

I am getting a precision marine kalk reactor and I'll be using the profilux to dose ATO through it.

The kalk reactor uses a recirc pump. The way its designed it is supposed to prevent slurry from going into the tank. Still, I'd like to put that recirc pump on a timer so that it only mixes during a time when the ATO is turned off.

Since evaporation will be less at night, I was thinking I could turn simply turn off the ATO at night and then turn on kalk mixing for 30 minutes or so, and then turn the ATO back on in the morning.


Has anybody set up their ATO system like that?

Ryan, I had a similar kalk reactor(GEO) that I had on a timer that mixed several times a day.

The Kalk settles out within an hour or so. You wouldn't have to disable it all night imo.

Your PH could benefit from having some kalk dosed at night when your ph is dropping so maybe just disable your ATO for a couple of hours prior to lights out so you can mix.

I'll try what you say. I'll also be putting my refugium on a reverse lighting cycle so I hope that will help too.
