Profilux Controller

this is how i feel about the profilux...at MACNA i tried talking to proline about it and they seemed to ignore me about the product because of my younger age, i have sent multiple emails to the company to try and get a few questions answered and they still have not responded, the actual product is not any more powerful then the Aquacontroller III or the aquacontroller III Pro, the only advantages that it has over those are that if you want to pay a fortune you can have one of their dimmable ballasts hooked up to it and it has a wireless feature and you can hook dosing pumps right up to it, unless you are into paying more money for european designer products you can spend much less money and get a much better and more accurate system with the ACIII and a litermeter dosing pump with a few add on modules

Mattyice, if you just have a opinion and not facts about a product please research a lttile before posting.
A quick google came up with this

I talked to Shane from Proline Aquatics. He was one the vendor that was stationed at the large tank display. From what I gathered Proline is a wholesale distributor for the profilux. They are our of canada. His email address is shane@prolineaquatics.com Feel free to contact him for more information. The Profilux unit seemed to be more modular than the AC3 in its current config will ever be. The units have slots internal to the controller for more add on hardware. One thing that interested me was the independant fused outlets on the power strips. The built in wireless is cool too.

I think the ACIII does all that except:

Dimming of up to 8 separate lights
*

“Burning-in“ mode for fluorescent tubes

Real-time clock with battery back-up

It is a sharp looking setup. It's a little difficult to tell what comes with each 'package', but for $1,300 CAD you get this:

ProfiLux Plus II base unit
1 x 4 socket powerbar
1 x 6 socket Digital programmable power bar
PH port
PH electrode
Temperature Sensor
Temperature port
Level control port
Level sensor
RS232 port and pc connection cable
pH calibration solutions
Redox/Conductivity (salinity) interface
Redox probe
Conductivity (salinity) probe
2 x Tunze Stream connection cables

So it's the same as what you would get with the AC III except for the Redox, Level Control and Tunze Control interfaces for about $800. But the ACIII has the second PH port and probe included (will cost you $150 more on the Profilux). Neptune has a tunze controller available (I think it's $180). You can make your own level interface for the ACIII for $20 if you already have a level sensor using one of the 'extra' digital inputs. Not sure how good the level sensor is, but add up the ACIII and you get $800+180+$120? = $1,100 for a similiar package. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $350 to go with the Profilux. It is a very sweet package though.

My opinion. I checked them out at MACNA as well.

MJAnderson, neptune controllers can have a password to childproof them if desired. i think you had the rest correct. :)
