I went by there today and I will give my impression of the place.
I didn't ask the guys name but the one that was there did seem willing to answer questions pretty readily and he didn't hoover over you so you felt comfortable to just look around. The shop they are in has lots of floor space to open more frag tanks if they wanted to expand later on (I hope they do).
The overall cleanliness of the tanks and shop was good.

The coral selection was kinda small but for mobile it is the best. They had two frag tanks aprx 5x5' under MH lighting. Small assortment of SPS, LPS, zoas, and mushrooms. I have been out of the saltwater hobby a while so I don't know if their prices were good, average, or over priced. I did see 3 different Reef Octopus skimmers there and two in the box so I assumed they were all new.

Now for the thing that really impressed me was the selection of different fish. Now assuming again that two tanks aren't show tanks and he will sell out of them you will have a good selection of different tangs, angels, clowns, and some of the common marine fish you see in the stores. The fish all appeared to be health and fat except one had a bit of damage to a fin.

The dry goods selection was a bit small. I did see some flake food, test kits and various other necessities you would expect from a aquarium store. They did have several used tanks, stands and skimmers for sale so they may sell out of consignment or maybe they just buy from someone and then sell it themselves out of their shop.

I don't know if they have some on order but their selection of live rock was pretty much nil. I saw a tank with rock in it but it made me think of refugium rubble. There were some bigger pieces but most were small. I think one rock was Fiji.

I didn't ask him of prices of anything since I don't have a tank yet. I did overhear some prices on coral that he was quoting for other customers in the shop.

I think the shop is worth checking out. The store hours are 2-6pm week days but not sure on weekends.

I wonder how long the store has been open?
I would just love to see them able to expand their frag tanks to 4 or more.

I intend to get a tank from them depending on the price.

I moved the marker to show where the entrance of the store is. The link should bring the map up in Satellite view, if not click it and zoom in.

Progressive has been around for years. I doubt they will ever put more frag tanks up. They have the ones they do now because another store in Pensacola wanted to buy their frag displays about 2 yrs ago. I'm not the biggest fan of those two tanks but they work.

I know you can buy some of the fish out of the right tank on the back wall. I don't think they sell any fish out of the left tank. I've gotten frags out of the left tank but its difficult to do. The owner has to be there because its his tank and no one else who works there will frag anything in it.

What you saw yesterday is basically what you get. They recently had a fish order so it looked good. Sometimes they are limited on fish. The center frag tanks is where the good stuff is at. I really don't see any changes coming from the store.

As for tanks.. they get new ones in every once in a while but I see a lot more used stuff rotated through the store. Just before christmas there was about another half dozen used tanks in the store.

Anyway you might want to check out the local mobile forums at MBRK.com
