Project Tank!

It's finally time! I've always wanted another tank, just to start over, and get everything RIGHT instead of rushing it and having less-than-perfect parts of the tank.

So here it is. I got it for my 18th birthday. Biggest surprise, because I saw it before an auction and asked if I could have it as a joined birthday/christmas pressent. I later heard that day that someone outbid us. That was about 3 months ago.

It came with already stocked! Hope he gets along with the other 2

So yeah. I'm unsure of the capacity, as I don't know how to measure the capacity of a bowfront. But it is around 50-60 gallons i think.

I'm going to have a sump made up for the right side of the cabinet which will be 200mm x 350mm x 400mm high. I plan to have no powerheads in the tank, just 2 or 3 outlets coming from the sump.

In the left side of the cabinet I'm going to have a canister filter (Aqua one CF-1000)

I'll probably have a centre overflow (a bit to the right though so it can go into the sump)

NOW....Here is where all of you come in

This shall be a split project between me, and the rest of you.

First question....What size should the hole be? Remember that the return pump will be pretty strong, so I want quite alot of flow going through.

Next....What is a good size pump? I was thinking maybe 4000Lph. Will that be too strong?

Also, what lights? I know this is a question that will generate alot of answers asking me exactly what I want. Well, It's going to have mainly softies in it. But I plan on having a bit of sps, and I still like having alot of light. Right now in my current 4ft I have 6 lengths of tubing. 3 Sylvania coralstars (blue, i think it's around 20000k) and 3 sylvania aquastars (10000k). I love the blue look.

So I was thinking some halides. But my tank also came with a little reflecter so I'll put 2 lengths of something (what should i put in!!??) in there aswell.

And finally, I currently have a dragon wrasse (around 3 inches) in my tank...But I don't want him in my new tank (he keeps moving everything...and eating everything). Will he be alright in a 60gallon with a volitans lionfish or picasso trigger?

Thanks guys. I'll keep you updated. The sump comes in hopefully 3 weeks, so this thread will probably die and be brought back to life then.

Sorry for all the reading you had to do, Further posts will contain less talking and more pictures. I know how everyone loves that :)

Come to a bit of a conclusion with the lights already. I'm thinking of having a 150W 14000k MH, but I'm still yet to decide on what to put in the reflector. Would it be better having two 20000K or 1 x 10000K and 1 x 20000K?
