I moved this from the newbie thread...
I bought my tank used and he threw in some equipment. Attached to the drain he had reinforced flex tube that ended with a threaded 90 turn so that the hose sat on the bottom of the sump and the water flowed sideways. It seemed like I was getting a ton of bubbles and I was getting some "waterfall" noise from my AGA Megaflow Durso, but it wasn't terrible. Reading another thread on RC, someone mentioned that the "proper" length of hose was one that would end 2" below the waterline of the sump. So I did a little surgery and cut the hose. Now I'm getting more noise from my Durso and it seems like I'm getting more spray from the bubbles on the surface.
Is there a best length for the return hose? Obviously mine isn't at it.
Also, will less flow through the sump make my Megaflow quieter? It's in my living room and I'm doing everything I can to make the system as quiet as possible.
