prophylactic treatments for stingray?

so i dropped by a couple of LFS yesterday and they both had stingrays. they didnt know if they were cortez or california stingrays.

anyways, the first LFS guy swears that stingrays cant carry ich.

the 2nd LFS said they can b/c it is wet, but all you would have to do is QT them in a separate tank for a few weeks to break the ich cycle and thats it.

both guys are off-base with their comments.

so is there a way to make sure the stingray isnt carrying ich? not worrying about the stingray, but more so about introducing parasites to the other livestock.

I did a Formalin bath on my Cortez. She was acting weird by acting restless all the time digging holes all over. She had never done that before. I suspected ich because I came down with an ich infestation just before the change in behavior. After the bath, I qt'd her and put my DT in Hypo. After the bath, she stopped the weird behavior. She is now back in my DT and is fine.

What else do you have in the tank with the Cortez? what size tank if you dont mind?

There is a Blue Throat Trigger, Harlequin Tusk, small Lieutenant Tang, small Orange Shoulder Tang, and a Mombassae Lion . The tank size is a standard 220 with minimal live rock. I have the rock on the outside edges so there is a big open bottom.
