Prophylactically TTM Tang or Observe + LFS

Went to LFS for a coral. ( I don't drive and never get out and off the Island so this is a big treat for me!). Well, ended with a nice hammer"¦. and a fish! A yellow tang. Didn't really want another yellow fish (or a tang) as I have a yellow watchman that I love! Some tang details- she/he had been at LFS for ~5-6 weeks, eating, healthy, no signs of disease, size about 3-1/2"-4" give or take ½". Brought her/him home and put in an established/cycled 20L quarantine that I feed + leave up and running (it has ~20 lb live rock and ~2" sand bed). So far this cutie is eating and doing well. I had intended to prophylactically start TTM. I mentioned as much to LFS guy. He felt quarantine was necessary for observation, but not immediate treatment since she/he has been with them for a while and no signs of disease (ick, my main concern). I will say I noted spots on some Angels in another tank, I asked if they ran off of a community filtration system and he said "no". Long note about this LFS. I have only bought food and equipment from them in the past (they did rescue a devil Lemonpeel Angel for me years ago, evil fish). First thing he asked me when I inquired about the tang was "œwhat is your tank size"? Taken aback I said 90 gal. He hum hawed an "œok". Further conversation with him (don't know if he was owner or not) lead to he likes to "œknow" his customers, and more so where the fish are going. He said he has refused a many sales for inappropriate homing of a fish. For example, they have a large blue tang ~5" that has been there awhile and he has refused to sell it over and over again for anything less than a 6' tank. He sent a 29 biocube and other customers packing.
Info"¦
90 gallon (standard 4'x18"x24") cycled since ~1/17/17, sump holding ~15 gal ( I think), skimmer, BRS GFO & Carbon Reactors, Chinese Black Box lighting x2, some powerheads and so far everyone is happy
Salinity 1.025 NH3- 0, NO2- 0, NO3- 5, Alk 8.4 Ca++ 400 Mg+ 1300, all consistent with 10 gal water changes q 6-7 days-no dosing

Current fish (quarantined ~6 weeks), 1-Firefish, 1-Royal Gramma,1- yellow watchman goby, 1-resplendent anthias (female-mean fish), 3 chromis ( all doing well for 2 months secondary to the mean anthias that keeps them on the run and too busy to bother one another so far), inverts-peppermint shrimp, dozen or so nassarius snails, couple trochus snails. Few Zoas (still, ugh), added hammer.

Anyway, question and statement"¦.
1. Should I go ahead and start TTM or just keep her/him quarantined for the planned 6-8 weeks and observe? I know final decision is up to me, but opinions and experience always help me with the final plan
2. Long winded opinion, I think the LFS is ok.

Thanks!!

You just never know. I, personally since losing 8 fish to Ick that I got from my LFS - well known and respected - TTM every fish I get. No exceptions. Ick in the DT is just too, too hard to get rid of. If you spotted a possibly infected fish that's not good - community system or not. Most LFS run small amounts of copper to keep signs of Ick down. Remember that they to not - generally- QT or TTM there new rivals.

My LFS one time told me they QT for a week, but I have seen them putting new arrivals directly into their selling tanks.

Thanks! Great experience info! I think I will start TTM after giving her/him a few days to eat and settle in. I have extra tanks and equipment.

Quarantine everything wet. For fish I do formalin bath 45min, then straight to TTM during ttm I dose prazi pro. Also during ttm I put nitrofuracin green in to help with bacteria infections. After ttm it goes in my cycle quarantine tank for 2 weeks observation. Then into my display. Since doing this I haven't lost any fish to diseases.

Learned my non-QT lesson in 2015 - Never trust any LFS to have disease free fish.
100% TTM since. All my tanks are disease free and will stay that way.
