propogating mushrooms

I have been wanting to propogate some mushrooms, but I'm not sure how much cutting is too much. I have heard they are the easiest to do, and I have even heard of putting them in a blender. Any help would be apreciated.

Try starting by cutting in half and work up to pie shaped pieces as you become more comfortable. The blender isn't the best idea IMHO.

my way of fragging w/out cutting

if the rock the shroom is on is small then break the rock in half, the shroom should be attached to both halves. set half the rock on another rock rasied a little above the sand bed, let the other half dangle over the sand an inch or so. over the next few days gravity will pull the shrooms apart. this process allows the shroom to separate more naturally, it heals alot faster than being cut as it pretty much seals itself off as it seprates.

I have many of those purple/blue ones and no matter how I try to rid them after a while they regrow and multiply on their own. I've tried cutting the top portion (mushrooms galore) of a very nice sized rock and ended up breaking it more down the middle of the rock. Rock separation may not always occur how you want it to. I find mushrooms tend to prefer low to med (at the most) flow, great light of course, and they will grow like weeds. They also have a tendanacy to be passive/aggressive by smothering other corals. I'm sorry, I've digressed.

I agree cut in half at first until comfortable. Watch out when cutting they tend to squirt water (from swelling after water removal) and for some reason right towards your eyes. I was out of commission for about an hour one time in one eye.
