hi,

i have been researching my first reef tank and have spousal approval for
the following setup:

140gal (48Wx24Dx29H) all-glass ultimate (with canopy)
30gal DIY sump with refugium (caulerpa, chadeto, gracillara) similiar to http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/chvy/chvy_sump.html
via-aqua 3600 (1057gph) return pump
precision marine bullet 1 protein skimmer
DIY top-off tank
8x48in 54W Tek T5HO retro kit mounted in canopy (half 12K white, half actnic 03)
R2 solutions dual moonlight
coralife power center (timer for lights)
300W of visi-therm stealth heater
4x maxi-jet 1200 upgrade+mag holder (each 1600 gph) + red sea wavemaster pro controller
powercom 600W UPS (for sump pump only)
ocean reef + 1 (5 stage, 100gpd) RO/DI

my livestock will be soft corals, some SPS, and fish.
is there anything significant i have missed?
or mismatches among this equipment?
my hardest decision was the maxi-jet powerheads+wave controller;
the alternative was to get two Tunze 6060s.

thanks in advance...

Controlable hydor-korallia's are better than maxi's and cheaper than tunze's while using as little power as the tunze's and they have a combo suction/magnet that work better than anything else on the market and come with the pump (not extra ).The coralife power center is crap ,worse than useless. I would suggest you get 2 smaller heaters (system redundancy) The light you are getting is great ,I would replace 2 of the bulbs with Giesman blue specials or other colors (lots to choose from).

thanks for the welcome.

the hydor controller is stunningly expensive.

there is an annoying discontinuity in the price/functionality landscape here
that i lack the experience to assess.

the choice appears to be
+ cheap low power wavemaker (wavemaster+4 maxijets) 1200gph/$200
+ medium expensive medium power wavemaker (2xkoralie 4 + controller) 3000gph/$450
+ quite expensive high power wavemaker (tunze)
+ cheap fixed medium power (2x tunze 6060s) 3000gph/$260

and of course, there is no real upgrade path; any upgrade is replacement.

sigh...
