protein skimmer

Just got my protein skimmer WOOP WOOP. Now what should i expect with a new skimmer? I read often that it takes time to break it in what does this mean? I ran it for a bit in the sink and it seems to produce nice bubbles i guess. Thanks

What is the make and model? Break in period refers to the amount of time it takes for the skimmer to "settle down". After the break in period it will be easier to adjust the skimmer, the foam head will be more stable, it should produce consistent skimmate, and it shouldn't overflow or lose all it's foam head for no apparent reason. Expect this to take 24-96 hours depending on the make and model.
