Protein Skimmers

I am looking at Protein Skimmers for my 150 gallon build. They will have to be "in sump" units.

I am looking at a Bubble Magus NAC-6 or a Coralife Super Skimmer Needle Wheel that is rated for up to 220 gallons.

Do any of you have any experience with either of these skimmers?

The neck shape of the 7 is better than the 6. I would go nac7 or 8 if you go that route. 500 and 540 cfm. I couldn't find any info on the pump for the coralife. I have the reef octo 250 gallon for my 140 and the pump has been nothing but trouble.

Thanks. I appreciate your input. I was reading reviews on both units at Marine Depot. Both seem to be able to accommodate my needs. The Bubble Magus units seem to have better customer reviews.

I have the Coralife and it works well. Produces skimmate that stinks and is green to black. So as skimmate goes I think that is good. Easy to clean and pump and needle wheel are easy to clean. FWIW

Look at a super reef octopus, I was looking at a skimmer for a similar build. I ended up with a used alpha 200 for $500

I hated my old Reef octopus but I've heard really great reviews of the newer ones like John mentions above.

John, how you like the Alpha so far?
