I am needing to get everybodies opinions on a protein skimmer for a 90 Gallon rr tank. I was kinda looking at a seaclone 150?

What's your current stocking level and how much are you wanting to spend? Any thoughts of upgrading to a bigger tank in the future? Also, what's yoru total water volume?

Do you have a sump or can it only be a hang on skimmer. I have never heard good things about the seaclones.

well as for stocking. I about 15 corals, 3 ananomes, 8 small fish and 3 shimp. as for the budget well I have to keep it under $150. I am upgrading from a 75 to a 90 gallon. old volume was about 78 - 85 gallons.

Sump or not? If you have a sump I'd look at an ASM G2. That's what I have on mine. They're about $220 new though but you could pick up a used one for about what you want to spend.

I've heard mixed reviews on the coralife but overall I think they're supposed to be pretty good for the money they cost. I would def. save up a little more and get the bigger one for the little more it costs. Is that for sump only or can it be used external?

I'd reccommend an ASM g3. Definitely get one that is rated for more gallons than what you currently have. I previously had an underpowered skimmer and the rsult was cyano.

i would go with the ASM also, they are an awesome skimmer, i have a G3 on my 125 and she pulls quite a bit of gunk out very consitantly filling the collection cup about every 4-5 days and i skim very dry too. i know its a little more than you want to spend but believe me the few extra bux WILL be worth it if your comparing to a seaclone or a coralife. no better skimmer available for the money IMO.

My experience with a SeaClone is so-so. The bubbles that it generates are not fine enough nor numerous enough to perform effective skimming. Also, the little black control valve is not stable and I think it slowly rotates, so you have to keep tweaking the setting of the skimmer a few times per week. I switched to a Coralife 65 and I'm quite happy with it. Once it got through the break-in period of 3-4 days, I never have to adjust the settings. I clean the collection cup every week. My tank looks beautiful and my water parameters are great.

what do people thing of ETSS skimmers?

When you get sick of them they make nice moded Beckett skimmers. Come to think of it that was the best thing about the seaclone. The Maxi that comes with it I prop moded so atleast I got some use out of it.

Putting a Sea Clone skimmer on your tank is like putting mini-spare tires on a Corvette. They just plain suck and don't work. I'd put a Sea Clone 120 on a 20 gallon nano and it might work for that size tank but I wouldn't put any money on it. Best thing about the Sea Clone, the give you a MJ1200 that you can later mod and you might be able to sell the reaction chamber to a stoner and tell them it's a hooka or something like that.

ACid i have one currently and its not very efficient IMO. It either is working or not working and I am unsure as to why. On a side note ..... LOUD! .. there has to be some way to make it quieter however I am not sure how to.

acid I haven't but I have been skimmer shopping lately and if you scan the equipment forum there doesn't seem to be a single ETSS owner that has been happy with there skimmer long term. They seem really finickly.
