Puffer eye problem...

I have a thread about this in the disease section too but figured some of you may not go there so..

I got this puffer delivered to me but he showed up in extremely cold water and the heating packs were dead. He looked completely dead on arrival but figured I should try to revive him anyway.

I put him in the QT and the next morning he was alive against all odds but had a TERRIBLE yellow bulbous growth-like thing on one of his eyes. Not white like cataracts but yellow and bubbled out. Here are some pics.

What can I do to help him? Anyone know what this is and how to help? It happened because he got so cold in shipping.

He's so cute I REALLY want to help this little guy.

Well now that I've studied it a bit I see that it IS inside his eyeball...very much like a yellow cloud. I don't know how to spell cataracts but it's like that...

I wonder if it will fade or is it a permanent problem.

I can't say anything about the problem but other than that, he is a very nice looking yellow belly. Where did you get him?

Won't say where I got him because I don't want to put them down. They are usually pretty good about packing but really did a bad job(holes in the styrofoam box, heatpacks doa, 10 degrees outside) on this particular one and the poor little guy really paid the price for it.

I just want to get him healthy again somehow. Permanently blind in one eye is a rough situation for a puffer.

leave him in Qt for a little longer than normal id say 8 -10 weeks and it may heal over time if it does leave im in there for a couple more weeks to make sure, I cant really thing of much more you can do for him but apart from that he is a nice health looking fish
