What tank mates do you guys have with your puffers?

I have kept almost every fish with a bunch of different puffers.It depends on the size of the puffer and the size of the other fish.I have firefish in with a dogface and a burr puffer with no issues.I have had lions and porks and a golden together and alot of other combinations.

I'm just trying to figure out what to house with my Stars and Stripes Puffer, he is almost 6".

Should be able to most anything with him.They are one of the more docile puffers.I have had a small one and a super huge one and they never bothered any fish that they were in with.

I kept my golden with groupers, snappers, and volitans, none of them bothered the puffer. The only issue I ever had, was ensuring the puffer got his fare share of food.

I would love to have a lion with my puffer...but I'm affraid of puffer hitting his spins.

Never heard of that worry before.Usually it is people worrying that the puffer will bite the spines of the lion.For the most part you should be ok.just don't get a real tiny lion.

I have a 8-9" porc.
List..Foxface, sailfin tang, purple tang, picasso trigger, red coris wrasse, and had a queen angel until he killed it (rip queenie) I didn't see that coming. He also ate three blue chromis, and two clowns.

hopefully you have a large tank(220 plus), I had a stars and stripe that got huge. He got along with everyone for the most part, but was the dominant fish in the tank. I kept numerous tangs, angels, lion, trigger, etc with him. Eventually he got to big for tank (a 180) and became super aggresive to my porcupine and I had to take him to lfs

Right now I have a 92 gallon tank. I'm in the process of looking for a new tank though.... 200+ gallons.

i lost 2 different porcupine puffers that way..the lion was an huge adult V. lion
both pocrs had the habbit of dropping to the bottom of the tank the moment the lights went out and thats where they stayed for the night..in both instances thats how the porc meet thier deaths..droping on the lions spines at lights out

That sucks, but that's my fear. A lot of the LFS around me have puffers and Lions together....but not sure I'm ready lol.
