Just make the tubes long enough to reach into the water. [/B]

Isn't the return line supposed to be above the water? Mine starts to back siphon if it is below the water line.

If it's always on, how does it back siphon?

It would only be a problem if the return is in the DT, and pump in the sump. Other than that why would it be a problem?
I use a mj-400.

If the pump and return line are both in the same body of water it shouldn't matter, IMO. Where's the water going to go? In a circle?

I keep my return above the water. I ended up getting a back siphon when I cut the power. Some media got under the foam pad and when the back siphon started it sucked up the media in the middle tube and I had to take the whole thing apart and remove the media to fix the problem.
