He's comparing a water cooled pump with a water cooled pump though. Interesting but it would be much more so comparing a water cooled pump to an external air cooled pump....IMO anyway.
He's comparing apples vs apples and trying to limit himself to 1 major variable. It'd be hard to compare 2 different pumps and generalize that over all pumps. And have to remember most external pumps are still water cooled. But yeah it'd be nice to see a detailed listing of what the common pumps do to the water other than just flow. How would expect a 98 watt Snapper run externally to compare to a 93 watt Mag 9.5 or a 110 watt Mag 12?
I guess my point is the debate in reefing is usually internal vs. external as far as heat is concerned. I could have told him the heat transfered to the water is going to be very similar running a Mag external or internal
I don't know about you but i don't consider a mag pump to be external.
Yes, its possible to run it that way but they get hot and are pretty loud.
A true external pump is very different than a mag.
