Purchase Question?

Ok Guys Tomorrow I pick up my Big Tank (Finally). It's an All Glass Reef Ready 180 Gallon!

It's going to take me forever to get this thing set-up and I'll start a Build thread once I get closer to actually being able to do anything, but for now I need to know what my next purchase should be?

I'm guessing I need to start thinking about a sump right?

I'm Basicly just wondering what order I should start buying things, that way I can start setting Money aside each week for a New piece of equipment..

It is really up to you. It also depends on how slow and how much you want to get going. I just bought stuff when I found really good deals. I looked forever for a good deal on a large tank. I finally gave up and ordered a tank. By that time I had all of my equipment for the tank.

I would just make a list of everything you need and want. Then continue to scour for good deals for those items. Then buy it when you see that good deal and cross it off of your list :) It doesn't really matter what order you go in if you don't have all of the pieces to set it up.

Black Mammoth - I was just sitting here thinking maybe I should start making a list of things I want/need.

I'm not even sure of everything I need, Maybe that's the question I should have asked...

lights, pumps, rock, sand, controller?, sump, plumbing, skimmer, reactors?, dosers?, fuge?, Fuge lights, hmm all I can think of at the moment

a stand?

a stand?

You didn't mention it, but does your tank come with a stand?

If it doesn't maybe you can start planning by deciding where the tank is going to sit, will you access from the rear, will it be a through the wall installation, will you have to put all pumps, sumps and filtration in the stand? How much room will it take? How tall must the stand be?

From planning my own upgrades over the past two years, the questions are endless...

I guess that's part of the sense of accomplishment...

Nate82- Thanks for throughing a few things out there like that, I basically started making a list of things I will want, and you added a couple to the list.

Lightsluver- The tank does not come with a stand, I didn't want to be constricted to the dimensiions of a pre-fab, so I'm going custom. The tank is going in my Dining room on a wall that leads to the garage, I'm currently in a lease purchase so no in-wall, but by the time I have what I need I may own the house and then that's a possiility, but for now I'm planning on a building a complete built in Cabinet basically from left to right with all equipment tucked inside the stand and side cabinets. Hope that's not to confusing..

Excellent decision on the custom stand. I suggest that you allow lots of height in your stand. As a bonus, a taller stand brings the tank closer to eye level... great for viewing.

Good luck with your build...
