purified water vs tap water

of course im new at this but i just learned im not to use tap water yesterday but my tap water is well water and tested great when we bought the place, i have made a few mistakes and lost some fish but im rolling pretty good now, mistake 1 was putting my fish in 24 hrs after i set the tank up and one fish is still alive (my yellow tang) all my water test are good and all water changes are from the fish store but all water lost to evaporation is tap, thanx your advise is appreciatted

if you can get your hands on RO/DI water, that would be ideal.....beyond that, i'm not sure what your question is

Good tasting tap water and reef quality water are two entirely different things. Buy yourself a good RO/DI system and you never have to worry about the quality. Buying from a LFS can be risky as many of them are lax when it comes to filter maintenance.

I use gallons of distilled water, and have no algea problems or Chemistry probs. Ill I gorw is corals and the nice green stuff for my snails! =)

There is no substitue for pure water in this hobby period. RO/DI is the only way to go.

RO is only half of it. It takes DI to polish the remaining TDS off.
