A few weeks ago my purple firefish was bloated and he had what looked like a tumor (large bump) on his side, right below his gill. It went away and in it's place was an open sore. Now there is two open sores but the fish still continues to eat and swim around. I was finally able to catch it and put it in my refugium to keep an eye on him. Does this sound like cancer, bacterial infection, another fish attacking it? I did recently have a neon goby die in the tank and the ammonia tested at .50. I did a few major water changes and put ammonia detox in the aquarium. Now everything tests in acceptable ranges. Ammonia/Nitrite 0, nitrate 20, PH 8.2, Alk. 9.0 DKH, Calcium 410, and salinity 35ppm. Has this happened to anyone's fish and what are the chances of a fish surviving this ordeal? What are my options for treatment?

So you have a picture of your fish?
What did this large bump look like when it was there? Like a parasite? or more like a growth?
what color was it?
what do the sores look like now? Is he eating?
Are you treating him with anything or are you just watching him?
If there is an open sore you need to watch for things like secondary infections
