Purple Gig question

i have a new purple gig coming tomorrow. going to put it up in the rocks with good flow. running phoenix 14k 250w approx 5 hours a day currently. thoughts on if i should shade it any...

depends on what kind of lighting it came from. Gig's like a lot of light. I had mine on full blast from the get go. I use 250w's radium/XM20k at 6 hours a day. Its been doing well...make sure to provide it good flow as it will respond better to it.

Like stated previously, they love tons of flow and light. Also depends on what lighting they were under. I didn't acclimate mine to my 250w phoenix's. S gigs seem to like the more the the better theory. Mines purple too and has gained a lot of color since I got it, even though it looked great when i got it two months ago

Oh also I would run your lights longer, 7 to 8 hrs has been shown to have better survival rates from what I have read everywhere

the t-5's run longer and i have not starting adding corals yet. had a house disaster and had to tear down and tear up my system and is mostly a good thing as i did a totally new system as i really wanted. in wall framed as a picture in the cave with tank,sump and everthing in garage. 300g miracles tank with 180g sump. but the BUMMER is they didn't ship the anemone :sad2: i suppose they have good reason and i want as healthy as possible for sure..still in the market
