Are the purple long tentacle harder to keep than ie a RBTA? Vendors like Reef Hot spot list them as difficult with no guarantee.

What is the key to their success?

They seem to have a less successful survival rate compared to BTA's in general. Keys to success is getting a healthy one that isn't bleached and then providing good light and water and a deep sand bed to bury in.

I've been a saltwater hobbyist for over decade and I still would not say that any of the clownfish hosting anemones are easy. they are all hard in one way or another. The purple LTA is just a purple version of Macrodactylla doreensis (spelling?). Anyways, They are more difficult to keep than the rose anemone but are definately maintainable. They seem to handle shipping pretty well. They need deep sand beds and they have higher lighting needs, so t5 or mh will probably be needed. They also need to be fed frequently.
