Purple Serpent Star eat fish?

Previously I had my tank setup as bare bottom but decided to add substrate to it. But now I needed CUC that would keep the Rod's food and other food stuffs clean in the sand. A LFS told me that unless I had over 1.5 inches of sand the Nassarius snales were not a good idea and I should get one of these purple serpent stars. So I put it in my tank after acclimation before heading to work. But reading up online I see that some of them have gone after fish. Mostly the green ones but I can't find much information either way on the purple. What are the chances of it making a grab at my clowns?

Thanks,
Z

i think they eat only dead or dying fish. but i've read large green brittle stars eating fishes. when they get too large and hungry, they might try.

Where do the clowns sleep? For what its worth the green ones usually get the fish at night when they are bedded down in the rock. If the clowns sleep up in the top it will be harder for it to grab them. I also doubt it would go after them in an anenome either.

I have brown ones and they are fine. Never seen purple that sounds cool. I have been told many times not to get green ones
