I have a total flow rate of over 2000 gallon an hour.. and i am using 432 watt t5 nova extreme.....maybe PURPLE UP is the problem??? nitrites 0 ammonia 0 nitrate 10ppm i use De Ionozied water the purple up contains alot of iodine perhaps thats the problem

take a look at the rock is this hair algae? and is it bad??

Nitrates at 10ppm is enough to support hair algae growth. I'd assume that you also got new rocks with this tank upgrade? I don't think it's the Purple Up, nor do I think Purple Up is necessary, but it has worked for others. Just be patient and let the algae use up the excessive nutrients. Another thing is I'm also assuming you upgraded the light fixture? If that's the case, the increasse in lighting will cause algae blooms too.

i went from 192 watt PC on the 38 to the 432 t5.. had to put the chili coral in the sump..the rock i got was from tampabay and was shipped submursed in water no curing needed. cost over 500.00 ouch...

Well, it's always hard to tell what's exactly in those rocks right? I mean, even my 3 yr old rocks, I'm sure if I break them apart, there's still going to be something foul deep down inside somewhere. I would chaulk it up to the increased lighting, some additional nutrients in the water, and that there's a nutrient cycle happening again. Remember, hair algae is very efficient at using nutrients in the water which is why they grow so fast and rampant. Pluck it out if you must, and just give it time, with proper care, it'll fade in a few months and your tank can be algae free. A few cleaners like hermits and stuff can help as well, but I personally prefer to do without them.

I think purple up is just a 1 part calcium supplement. I know you can get the same results using turbo calcium. it won't enhance other types of algaes.

It does have iodine in it, which could potentially boost certain algae, assuming it is lacking. BTW, the calcium carbonate provided has little solubility in seawater.
