Purple up should be renamed to Green up...It looks pretty cool, but still I wanted my rocks purple.....

I went from my tank looking like this:

to 2 weeks later looking like this:

It definatley adds color super fast..Maybe thats the problem? Anyway, be aware that it didnt work for me....:D

I love the aquascaping. I've tried to do that myself but it just looks so bad b/c some rocks have a ton of coraline and others don't.

they sky rocketed...I also was starting to get cyno and slime on tank walls...I did a quick 35% water change and ran two canister filters filled with carbon...Im doing A-ok now....

yeah, I read the bottle's label and thought that the calcium levels would increase abruptly. That's why I didn't try it. Too risky to put corals thru such a rapid change. Better to be on the safe side and just let coraline grow at stable salt levels.

I"m having steady developnment using Tropic Marin at 420.

But I think my coraline started out green also and slowly turned purple and pink. Give it a little more time. I heard from some people that the type of LR (ie Fiji, Marshall, Tonga, etc) also produce different colored coraline.

Ok, if purple coraline doesnt take its toll, I will later in the future swap out the rock or something...Never again though..:(

yea but my rock literally tuned green in like 3-4 days no joke. I woke up and I was like Whhhaa.... dang....Anyway I do see specks of pink but not enough to confirm it will turn purple...O well no more additives for me...I think Ima switch salt too...What should I switch to?

I have softies and an anemone.

I will only do softies and anemones.

Im using oceanpro salt right now.

Thanks

Sam

Don't worry. With weekly water changes, the specific gravity in the tank will slowly drop to equilibrate with that of your salt mix. Don't do anything too drastic. You'll be okay.

I agree with the others. My coralline started green as well.
When I introduced new LR or turned a piece over exposing the white underside, the purple stuff showed up as pink specks also. I wouldnt worry about it.
Besides, we all know the key to this is patience. Just wait, it will show up. I think youre just seeing the beginnings of it and not realizing its exactly what you want. :)

You have to have some coraline in your tank to start with or the purple up is not going to help. Have someone close to you give you some of the coraline scraped off their glass to seed yours. It helped get mine a kick start.

If his rocks have ever had coralline in the past (which is very likely), its probably still there and just needs to start up again to spread the spores.
Although seeding with other people's scrapings wont hurt anything.

you would not believe how much purple coraline my 100g FOWLR at work has. It hasent even been up a year and the back pane, and both side panes are unable to be seen through due to solid purple coraline.

I have to scrape the front pane every 2 weeks because it starts to take over and you cant see in the tank.

Sam I can give you some Purple coraline fragments to seed your tank when you pick up the lights. It helps the process go faster.

Dang.. 100g at work.. how cool would that be? :)

I get enough comments with just the 5G water changes on the nano at work.

My rocks are green as well, then about a week and a half later. Lots of purple, pink and red which adds vibrant color to the tank.

hey sam i need to scrape the coralline off my glass soon. if you want to come by tonight we can try to get it in a bag for you. im about 20-30 minutes away without traffic depending on how fast you drive. i have razorblades and some baggies so you really dont need to bring anything at all. give me a call if youre free tonight and want to come down
