Put a Sea Urchin in Sump or Display tank???

I've heard that sea urchins are bad for display tanks because they eat the red algae on the live rock..the urchin is white in color...should i put him in my display tank or sump?

Usually, urchins eat green macroalgae and purple coralline algae.

If you don't have algae in the sump, you will end up killing it.
