Putting live rock in canister filter

I was thinking of 2 ideas:
1st idea.replacing everything in my canister filter with live rock
2nd idea.replacing everything but activated carbon so I have both live rock and activated carbon

What do you think?

I've heard different opinions on these ideas, Cryptzones for low light areas of the ocean.

It won't be large enough to have much of an impact. Keep carbon and GFO in the canister filter, it has far more impact on water quality.

It could help if youu bust up the rock into smaller marble size pieces that way you can have more surface area.
