Pygmy Angels in Reef tanks

Frustrated Stick Gardener
Thought I'd relate my experience here with a Coral Beauty. I had trouble getting PE from my acros and a pocolipora and was looking for an answer so starting lurking around R/C trying to learn. No matter what water param changes, lighting changes, additives added or removed I simply could not achieve good "daytime" PE. One day my Coral Beauty decided to commit suicide at night. Woke to find him stiff and dried. After about a week started to notice some PE changes. They have steadily improved. ??? I never saw this fish nip at anything in my tank,EVER! I'm beggining to think I wasn't feeding enough, often enough to keep him happy so he did pick. My point to all this is maybe the Angel's aren't the problem maybe it's how we manage them. I simply could not increase feedings without negative impact on the tank. Seems like some of the "Big Guy's" on here having success with Angel's are able to export more waste. Could this be why they can have PE with Angel's in the tank??? They can feed more so fish doesn't pick?? Your thought's..........

This is the natural behavior of the angels in a reef, even the dwarf angels, their constant nipping causes sps corals hide their polyps during the day ... no harm, at least in the SPS.
Only exception in my experience are argi and acanthops, these do not produce any alteration in the SPS polyps.
