Pylei Wrasse Information

My LFS got this fish in and it is really nice. However, I went home to do some research before I even thought about it and did not come up with much. So, what are your experiences with them and would a 57g tank be too small (if so then we can leave it at that).

Depending on your other fish it should do fine in your tank since it's a fairy wrasse (make sure you have a lid for your tank). Kudos btw for asking before you brought it home :)

It depends how many other fish/ wrasses you plan to keep. IMO i love my pylei, but that said the male is always trying to force the female to spawn, I mean every night so id take that into account if you decide to get a M/F pair. People often say pylei wrasses are agressive too, but Mine Isnt bad, hes a stud

There is only one other wrasse in the tank, a filamented flasher wrasse male. The other tank inhabitants are very peaceful (helfrichi firefish, mandarins, swalesi basslet, gold assesor basslet, pair of clowns, barncale blennies). I want it keep it a very peaceful tank and already evicted a mystery wrasse (he was returned to the LFS) that made everything hide. Yes I have a glass cover for the tank (until I build the BRS kits that I have). May have to skip this beauty if it is too aggrssive.

Mine was really aggressive for about the first year. Now he has mellowed out and isn't too bad. Its fun to watch him vibrate his long ventral fins when he is displaying.

Well, it might work. But they ARE aggressive.

Yeah I learned my lesson when I first joined the hobby and the local LFS at that point was not very good. After that I discovered sites like this one and my local board and research things before I buy them. When I don't, things do not go well.
