QT for puffer and yellow tang

Going to put the tang and puffer in a bare 29g, starting with water from the display tank (1.009 sg).

Some questions.

Can a puffer be treated with copper ( i have read that you should not)

can a puffer be given a freshwater bath (told by LFS guy not to, not sure why not)

can you begin copper treatment with hyposaline water (have read not to, or that it is risky)

can I treat with maracyn-two in combo with the copper? tang has some redness on body/fins.

I am thinking just putting them in there, keeping the SG low, and doing 50% water changes every day for 2-3 weeks. Hypo in main tank (90g) for 5 weeks didn't wipe it out, it's back as strong as the first round. Both fish eating and acting fine.

Suggestions? thanks.

I think that copper with puffers is a myth, because ive used copper for years with my 6yr old stars and stripes, and still presently own him, as happay as can be. Another medication that i would recommend that i use in quartentine that works miracles is this thing called "Quick Cure" Its active ingriedients are formaldahyde and malchite green. I buy it at my local walmart for $2.48, and i have sworn by it .... It treats everthing from flukes to ich, to internal worms ...

Can't tell about the puffer and copper however copper is more toxic at lower salinity therefore I would not combine both.
also copper as well as Antibiotics will affect your filter and the use of both might endup killing yuor filter which will cause spikes.
If you need to treat with antibiotics along with copper why not take the fish out 2-3 times daily and put it in a small container with abntibiotics in the water then erturn it without the water it was in tot he QT? r maybe put it in a container and feed it after having soaked the food in antibiotics... I used to get good results this way that I prefered this method for antibiotic treatment alone as I never had to worry about affecting water quality
