I believe this is the correct place for this questions.
So I purchased a Purple Fire Goby over a week ago along with a few banded trochus snails. I placed them all in a 20 gallon QT. The PFG was looking great and eating well for the first week. On the evening of the 7th day I noticed he was not eating and was breathing rapidly. Later that evening he was dead. I did not notice signs of Ich in terms of having spots on him. I did notice one fin seemed to be frayed with signs of damage as well as a 1 mm stripe on his side that appeared raised. So I have no idea what took the fish out so suddenly.
My question is this "“ what should I do to safely bring the trochus banded snails into my DT? Should I keep them in there for 4 weeks or more? Should I perform multiple tank transfers? Obviously I can't treat the tank with chemicals. I know the snails are not carriers of Ich but can have hitch-hikers. Because I dealt with Ich last spring I am really trying to be as diligent as I can to keep Ich, and other nasty stuff out of the DT! What would you suggest?
