QTing difficult fish

Out of curiosity how does one QT fish like mandarins, and have them survive? Especially survive any kind of treatment that would kill copepods in the tank even if you were to feed live ones daily (if it were possible).
I was wondering how people handle fish that are extremely sensitive and or stressful. Another one I was thinking of is the leopard wrasse. How would you QT or treat that fish without substrate? Wouldn't you risk it injuring itself trying to bury against a bare bottom tank (if you don't use substrate which would have to be disposed of if the tank is treated with copper). I am sure there are a whole list of fish that would suffer greatly in a QT set up yet are popular. I'm not advocating not QTing, so please don't think that, I'm just wondering how a person deals with, realistically, fish that are more apt to die from QT than not.

I can't speak to mandarins, but burrowing wrasses like leopards can be provided a small tupperware container filled with sand. This makes it possible to do TTM - just throw out the sand with each transfer and replace with a clean container and sand.

currently quarantining a red tail tamarin. i have a small area with sand.
having no problems keeping copper levels steady.

I'm interested in finding out how much food (bottled pods) to feed mandarin during QT and keep it alive. I know they are more resistant to ich, but that's not a guarantee.

the safer way is to wait until your tank fuge is fully established with chaeto and pods. Grab some chaeto daily and put it in the QT to feed. then toss.

I have a wrasse that burrows in QT now (yellow coris). I'm worried if I am going to do a transfer and he is buried at that time, what do you do? I hear you should not disturb them.

I'm not sure you could buy enough to be honest. Not without going broke.

just dig them up... they will be fine. I've done it many many times. if the sand gets too hard to scoop, use your hands to feel around first so you don't stab the fish
