Quarantine for Newtoni Wrasse

I just ordered the 5 1/4" Newtoni wrasse from Divers Den.

I've set up a quarantine tank - it's a 10g tank with sponge filter and some pvc. Will the fish be stressed out in such a small tank during the quarantine period? I know Q tanks are small and only need to be bare bones, but dont Thalassoma wrasses and say larger Tangs, need space? I'm worried that the lack of space will stress them out even more (for example a Tang needing at least a 4' long tank).

Also, I ordered a 3" Starki Damsel. Can I quarantine both the damsel and the wrasse in the same Q tank?

Thanks!

Jeff,

Anytime you receive a new fish the acclimation period will always be the most stressful time once it arrives to your home. We recommend a 29-gallon tank as it will make an excellent quarantine tank and is perfect for most freshwater and saltwater applications. However, a slightly larger or smaller tank can work, as well.

You are able to quarantine these fish together in the quarantine aquarium though you will want to keep a close eye on the water parameters in order to ensure their health. Because the fish will only be in quarantine for 2-4 weeks the smaller aquarium should not cause any undue stress.

Please contact us if we can be of further assistance.
