Quarantining Macroalgae

I am planning to add some specimens of macro algae to my FOWLR tank.

I there a process for treating them or quarantining them to prevent transfer of any parasites etc that might bo on the plants of the water adhereing to them?

I am thinking bout doing this very thing and wanted to know what the experts in macros do about quarantining.

What is the recommended time frame, and what are you looking for? Do you medicate during quarantine?

I use Coral RX, same thing I use for most corals, but I just dip it for a few minutes. Never had a problem.

I will look that up. Also, after reviewing more threads, some people quarantine macro algae in fishless tank for 6 weeks, long enough for ich and such to die off. Others think quarantine is unnecessary. I will check out the Coral Rx.

I have also used coral dips for macro algae and have not had a problem. Good luck

Absolutely, quarantining macroalgae is a very good idea. Dips alone won't work 100%. Macroalgae like anything else can carry disease. I know a local hobbyist who lost a large tank full of fish due to brooklynella carried in on some macroalgae he bought. Fishless quarantine is the best method. Time is fine, I wouldn't medicate.
